Words are the building blocks of communication, and communication is the bedrock of a pre-existing thought or idea. With every idea, a narrative is formed, and every narrative tells a story. I tell the Gradely story as it unfolds, and what a journey it has been!

Storytelling has always been a big part of who I am and being the most powerful tool in content marketing, I dare to say, it has sufficed.

Since joining the team, the goal for me has always been to help grow the company by using the power of words to appeal to our customers’ emotions, and of course, draw in prospects.

Essentially, words are just words until you weave them together to elicit emotional responses, and you’ll agree with me that stories are far more appealing than a discussion of abstract ideas.

American Poet, Maya Angelou once said, “Write so people can hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart”.

Maya’s words have been a bracing factor throughout my journey as a writer, and I still hold true to them most especially as a content writer in a tech company where content marketing is of utmost importance for the generation of leads and conversions and for building a community of loyal customers.

Writing For Gradely and Realising the Power of AIDA

Every content creator knows you can never truly create great content if you do not fully grasp the idea surrounding the untold story.

During my first weeks at Gradely, I had to learn, and understand the nitty-gritty surrounding Gradely’s birth in order to adequately tell her story in its truest form, devoid of ambiguities and abstractions, it was pertinent to introduce Imagery to my every content because I needed our audience to not only see the words but to imagine a relatable scenario when they read these words.

Using terms such as “online schooling”, “online classroom”, “virtual tutorials”, blended learning etc. is common in the edTech industry and oftentimes might appear abstract and confusing to readers.

However, I have learned over time that attention-grabbing content differs from person to person, but there’s one thing that closes the gap of divided attention irrespective of the content, and that is “Storytelling”.

By infusing storytelling in our everyday communication with our audience, I could clearly see the power of AIDA (i.e. ATTENTION—-INTEREST—-DESIRE—-ACTION), an advertising model adopted by marketers to describe the logical four-step process of consumer involvement with a marketing message.

All I need to do with my words is to attract our audiences’ attention to a particular message through storytelling. This will make it enticing enough to hold their interest. Then, based on the benefits of what’s been presented to them, they develop a desire for the service being offered, and finally, they take action.

Working at Gradely has enabled me to make a huge leap, professionally and personally. The one key thing that Gradely has taught me is that to build a good team, size really doesn’t matter, great people do, and this is probably the best part of my experience; being surrounded by not necessarily a lot of people, but Intelligent people that are constantly looking to bringing out the best in me as a content writer.
