Think about all the fun activities you can do such as dancing, reading, running and so on. You are able to do all of these things because of something called energy.
Energy is the ability to do work. Humans and machines need a form of energy to function. Humans obtain energy from food which is converted to chemical energy in the cells which gives you the strength to run around and play all day!
Machines such as electric bulbs, washing machines, electric iron, and so on use different type of energy to work. Can you guess what form of energy is needed to make your electric bulbs work? Electrical energy!
Electrical energy is produced from electricity.
Also, when we move objects we produce another type of energy called mechanical energy. Mechanical energy is the energy that is produced when an object is in motion.
Another very important form of energy is solar energy. Solar energy is the light and heat produced by the sun. This is one of the most important forms of energy. It makes it possible for plants to produce their food through photosynthesis. Plants in turn serve as yummy meals for both animals and humans. Solar energy is also responsible for lighting up our day and drying our clothes.
Solar energy produces two other types of energy which are light and heat energy. Light energy can also be produced by electrical energy through your electrical bulbs. This energy makes it possible for us to see.
Heat energy is also a very useful form of energy. It helps us warm or cool down our food. It can also be used to generate electricity which can be used to power up machines.
Did you know that when we speak or play an instrument we produce another form of energy called sound energy? That’s right!
Sound energy is produced from sounds of objects.
