Some time ago, we went to a couple of the schools that adopted Gradely as their Learning Management System (LMS) to see why they chose us and what they had to say about us.

Here’s what Mrs Adeniran, the Proprietress of Mansfield Petra Schools, had to say:

“My name is Titilayomi Adeniran, and I started Mansfield Petra Nursery and Primary School 16 years ago. We began as a crèche and then grew into a Nursery and Primary School. Our vision is to raise boys and girls who are mentally strong, emotionally stable, psychologically viable, and make life a meaningful one for themselves and society.

The Covid-19 pandemic triggered most schools in the world to go into digital learning. We already taught ICT as a subject and usually had zoom classes, but this was not something we did as blended learning. But after Covid-19 came and stayed for eight weeks, we knew we had to introduce blended learning into our learning system.

My first encounter with Gradely was when I realised that they had sent me emails for quite a long time, up to 15 emails. I decided to call the team lead sending those emails, asked my questions, and then took it up.

When looking for a learning management system (LMS), I was looking for an accommodating and easy to use platform, then friendly to the pocket; we didn’t want a platform that would be too expensive. I wanted a helpful, interactive, robust platform accessible to the pupils, easy to navigate, and personalised learning features. We were also particular about the teachers being able to manage it. The audio, visuals and Computer-based tests (CBT) were also important. We needed a platform that teachers would be able to navigate and upload videos and then organise CBT. We wanted an LMS that could do that for us, and Gradely was perfect for the job; they could do that for us!

When I told my school teachers about it, their reactions were perfectly normal for any new venture. The tech-savvy ones were excited about using Gradely, while some who were not tech-savvy had a fear of not meeting up or not being able to use Gradely. But I will say that they were excited to use Gradely, mainly because they could compile all their activities and have their e-files per class. Having a simple and organised collection of all their work was a good one for them.

So far, Gradely has been able to assist us in taking our teaching methodology even higher because of its excellent AI system. The pupils can now research and have the awareness they need to dig for information. They are becoming independent learners. Our original goal for using an LMS was for students to be comfortable with the system, research, and learn how to use other apps. And thus far, it has enhanced their technological know-how.

It allows parents to see and have an independent assessment of what we are doing in school. There is a segment for parents to assess their children on their own, and this way, they don’t have to wait for us to give them the assessments.

I think my favourite part of the entire app is the report card feature. Gradely can generate reports on each child stating their strengths and weaknesses and stating the topics they are good at and the topics they aren’t good at, instead of just giving an overall performance score in a subject. This report will help parents and teachers pay a lot of attention to the specific topics the child is weak at. It prevents a child from being written off as inadequate in a particular subject and enables parents and teachers to investigate and determine the root cause of a weak grade.

As a school owner myself, my advice to other school owners that have not yet decided to transition to online learning is to take the bull by the horn, do it! It is gone past the time when we sit on the fence. The times we are in are not where you ask yourself if you want to or don’t want to; you have to do it. Educators, schools and exam bodies all over the world now conduct exams online. JAMB and other Colleges of Education conduct their exams online, so why won’t you consider online learning? It is not a question of whether you should do it or not; it is a necessity. There could be a deadly virus tomorrow, but life must still go on; children must learn, which is why you have to consider capitalising on online learning.

I would recommend Gradely to anyone looking towards incorporating a Learning Management System for their school because it is more than just an LMS. It’s a total, student-specific learning package, and it has been a wonderful experience using it.”
